CHEERFUL EARFUL -THE WORLD’S FUNNIEST PODCAST FESTIVAL COMES TO IRELAND
8 November: The globetrotting podcast festival launches in Dublin this autumn, bringing Cheerful Earful to Ireland for the first time after more than 100 live shows across London, Melbourne and New York.
Cheerful Earful began half a decade ago as a four-day festival hosted at a handful of London pubs. Since then, it has grown into the world’s funniest podcast festival: a global community of podcasters and fans, built organically from the ground up. This year, the festival will debut in Dublin with a day-long event on 8 November at Hen’s Teeth, one of the city’s best-loved cultural hubs.
"We're buzzed to be hosting Cheerful Earful in Dublin. Hosting accessible, exciting events is what we've always strived to create - it's a genuine alignment with everything the Cheerful Earful team stands for, and what they do so well." Orla Devlin, Event Manager, Hen’s Teeth, Dublin
Part of what makes Cheerful special is that you’re never quite sure who is going to pop up. Last year in London, Brett Goldstein joined The Birthday Girls House Party podcast, and the year before, James Acaster made two surprise appearances across the line-up. This year, attendees at the Dublin festival can look forward to acts including Dreamgun, Weird Ireland with Brinsley McNamara, Legitimate Likes and The Bad Articles, with more to be announced.
“Cheerful Earful has grown into a global festival, but the heart of it has always stayed the same: bringing brilliant, funny podcasts and the people who love them into the same room. Ireland has such a rich comedy podcast scene, and we are thrilled to bring Cheerful Earful to Dublin for the first time to put Irish podcasting talent in front of Irish audiences.” Giles Gear, Festival Director
